SnakeList (snakelist.com) is a free snake checklist, map and quiz made by Eduardo Brandao. This page explains what it keeps about you.

What stays on your device

Your lists (Seen, Want to see, Following, favourites), notes, settings and quiz progress are saved in your own browser on your own device. SnakeList has no server and no database of users.

Sign in with Google

If you choose to sign in with Google, SnakeList asks Google for your name, email address and profile picture (to show who is signed in), and for access to a private app-data folder in your own Google Drive. Your list is saved there as one small file so it can sync between your devices. SnakeList can only see the file it made in that folder – not your other Drive files. Nothing is sent to SnakeList's creator or anyone else.

You can sign out at any time. To remove the synced file and SnakeList's access, go to myaccount.google.com/permissions and remove SnakeList.

SnakeList's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Cookies and recommendations

If you accept cookies, SnakeList remembers on your device which species you look at so it can pick snakes you might like. This never leaves your device. You can turn "Picked for you" off at any time.

Other services

Maps, photos and live sightings are loaded from public services such as iNaturalist and map tile providers, which see a normal web request from your browser. If you send a report or a photo by email, it goes to the creator's inbox like any other email.

Children

SnakeList does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Signing in is optional.
